The Sadhana
of Chenrezig

A sadhana is a “means of accomplishing”—a way of developing a state of mind. The Bodhisattva of Compassion (Chenrezig [pron. “chen-ray-zee”] in Tibetan, Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit) embodies the essence of great compassion. When we practice the traditional Tibetan Chenrezig sadhana, we use visualization, mantra, and our open hearts to develop our compassion.

The practice text PBMG uses is one widely revered in the Tibetan tradition: “Benefiting Beings Throughout Space” by the great 14th-century master Thangtong Gyalpo (1989 English translation by Sarah Harding). You can download it here in PDF format.
